Adobe Acrobat and PDF File Technology

BASIS uses Adobe Acrobat technology as an effective way to bring our printed resources to the online world. Please download and use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to have instant online access to any of our files in PDF format.

If you are new to Adobe Acrobat and Portable Document Format (PDF) file technology, the instructions on this page will help you to:

Click Here To Download Adobe Acrobat Reader

Please note: If you experience any problems during this process, please refer to Adobe's customer support page for more detailed instructions.

Install Adobe Acrobat Reader

1. In Windows 95/98/2000 NT, choose Run from the Start Menu. In the Run dialog box, type: [drive]:\ar405eng.exe.

2. Follow the instructions on your screen to allow the Acrobat Installer to complete the installation process. The Installer will create a program group called "Adobe Acrobat 5.0," and the Reader 5.0 application and all supporting files will be placed in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\ directory.

View PDF Files

When you click on a link to a PDF file, your Web browser will automatically open the file.

To save the PDF file for later offline viewing at your leisure, select "Save as" and choose a location on your hard drive.

You can then use Adobe Acrobat Reader as a standalone application to view those PDF files that you have previously saved or downloaded to your hard drive.

1. Start Adobe Acrobat Reader.

2. You will immediately be prompted for a PDF file to open; simply locate the file of your choice on your computer, and click OK to open the file.
